Hi friends, here is your weekly dose of “Simply Good Life,” a list of things that will help you to grow personally and professionally. Enjoy!

Easy Hack to Sleep Better

Did you know that getting more sun exposure in the morning can dramatically improve our sleep? Directly after waking up, spending the first 15–30 minutes outside will tell our body when to produce melatonin, the hormone responsible for our sleep-wake cycle.

Additionally, the sun energizes the mitochondria — the powerhouse of the human body.

So get more sun exposure in the morning, eat your breakfast outside. Humans need sun in the morning.

good — A Video I’ve Enjoyed

I just love this video. Jocko Willink always gives me food for thought. “good” is a wonderful way of living “Amor Fati”, Nietzsche’s concept of accepting whatever happens to us. I wrote about using Amor Fati as a means to love our lives in my newsletter last summer.

What do you think about this concept of always accepting failure and bad situations?

Reduce the Power of Emotions

Do you sometimes have these annoying thoughts that constantly produce anxiety in your mind? There is a way to reduce the power of these emotions by simply labeling them.

Once you feel anxiety, think “Oh I experience anxiety!” instead of thinking “I am anxious!”.

Why does this work? For two reasons.

The simple awareness of our emotions by giving them labels allows us to separate ourselves from them. Additionally, we’re learning to separate these fleeting emotions (I experience anxiety) from permanent traits (I am anxious).

Future Skills — No Job is Safe

No job is safe, but some skills will always be valued in the workplace: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration — the four Cs.

Did you know that Finland recently shifted its national school curriculum to a new phenomenon-based approach? By 2020, the country will replace traditional classroom subjects with an approach highlighting the four Cs. These four skills are important for creative work in teams, which is needed in the fast-moving, complex world we live in today.

Quote I Love

Whether You Think You Can or Think You Can’t , You Are Right — Henry Ford

It’s one of Henry Ford’s most famous quotes. I use it quite often in my vision workshops to motivate the participants to think big.

Try to think about things you believe you can’t do. Now simply try to think you can. It’ll allow your brain to think about some possible ways to reach these impossible goals.

Self-belief is an essential ingredient for success!

Have a successful week, all.

Adam
