Simply Good Life — Happiness Exercise | Your Emotions | Pain=Growth
Hi friends, here is your weekly dose of “Simply Good Life”, a newsletter that tries to make your day a little bit better and help you to grow personally and professionally. Enjoy!
Happiness Exercise
We often think that life needs to change for us to be happy. What if we started with the things we already have?
In the next few minutes thinking about three things you’re actually happy about, things you’re grateful for.
The reason why you are unhappy is because you are focusing on what you do not have rather than on what you have right now. — The Way to Love by Anthony De Mello
Your Emotions
What do you think is the source of our emotions?
We create them. We are the source of all our emotions. This also means we can choose to feel the way we want to feel at any given moment. How liberating…
So many people feel that they have to wait for certain experiences in order to feel the emotions they desire. For instance, they don’t give themselves permission to feel loved or happy or confident unless a particular set of expectations is met. I’m here to tell you that you can feel any way you choose at any moment in time. — — Tony Robbins
Pain=Growth
I am reading “The Way to Love” by Anthony de Mello now. There is not one single page in this book without a ton of notes I had to add (see the first quote above). Here is one I especially like:
Happy events make life delightful but they do not lead to self-discovery and growth and freedom. That privilege is reserved to the things and persons and situations that cause us pain. The Way to Love Anthony De Mello
Trust
In my training, I often teach how focusing on building trust, on being human can influence the revenue of a company. Here is an inspiring talk by Simon Sinek about building trust: “If You Don’t Understand People, You Don’t Understand Business”
Thank you, Romano, for this recommendation.
Investors
Did you know that we are all investors? Even if you are not actively trading with stocks you are an investor. You decide day by day where you invest your time, energy, money.
“We are all investors; of time, energy capital and you can choose to become better at those things or you can remain blissfully unaware” — Tim Ferriss
Understanding how our mind works can improve how we invest our time, our energy, or our money.
Have a fantastic weekend, all
Adam
